Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALPH JOHN SMOLINSKI November 2, 1945 - September 19, 2005 True to his strong spirit - Ralph faced illness with bravery and true dignity, however, with deepest sadness, his family announces his passing on Monday, September 19, 2005, at the age of 59 years. Ralph will be missed the most by his loving family - his wife Peggy and daughters, Donna and Tammy: Donna's husband Nathan Mandziuk and their children, Andrew and Kristin: Tammy's husband Robert Belanger and their children, Jordan, Lise and Rielle. He is also survived by his sister Diane of Calgary. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Joe and Florence Smolinski; and his father-in-law Art Wanag. Second only to his family, Ralph's great love was his music and his band, Yours Truly, formed 36 years ago with his wife Peg. He was a self taught musician - a lead singer who played guitar, violin and saxophone. Ralph's passion for his music, and his determination to carry on, allowed him to play in his band until two weeks before his passing. He truly loved to share his music - his own enthusiasm was always a match for the real joy of each occasion. Ralph grew up on a farm in Walkleyburg, MB. It was here that he developed his talent and passion for working with his hands, a talented carpenter who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He was also employed at AMSCO Cast Products in Selkirk, MB, for 39 years until retirement. Ralph was very meticulous with a strong work ethic and took pride in everything he created. Ralph and Peggy were married in 1967 and together, they lived a very full life. In 1977, they built their beautiful home in East Selkirk. They loved to travel - Ralph being sure nothing was missed at any destination. Sharing in many concerts and festivals, and enjoying activities such as downhill skiing, snowmobiling and riding his Harley Davidson - Peggy remembers with greatest fondness the sense of adventure Ralph brought to everything they did together. Ralph was a friend to many and the family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who visited and extended their love, prayers and concern. Thank-you to the health care providers who cared for him these many months. If friends and family so desire, donations in Ralph's memory may be made to the Lord Selkirk School Division (proceeds to Happy Thought School Music Program), 205 Mercy St., Selkirk, MB R1A 2C8, or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Music Program), P.O. Box 448, Selkirk, MB R1A 0B3. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6088 PTH Hwy., Selkirk. Funeral at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, also at the church, with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene and Patti, Kenny, Nathan Mandziuk and Robert Belanger and we ask that you all carry him in your heart. Private interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk.

Our thoughts have been with you during your time of sorrow. Alex (my dad) has told us many wonderful stories of his times with Ralph, from working with him at Amsco to going for coffee with him. They shared may laughs together. As children we used to watch Ralph play at many local weddings. We were always amazed that Yours Truly could play all the current songs. His music will be missed. - Posted by: Alex Katazinski & Family (Friend) on: Sep 26, 2005
